A LITTLE BOY'S REQUEST

kpbs.org

Where is that something,
The little boy asked, politely;
That you once gave me,
When I was a little baby?

What about the moments we shared,
When you took me by my hand,
And led me through this road;
When on your shoulder, you lifted me up,
And caused me to ride on top?

You promised me the world and beyond;
To walk it with me, even in the cold;
To be my anchor, on which to rely;
And my strength, with which to fly.

But I was afraid to face the crowd alone:
To fight this battle on my own;
To make the necessary push,
Lest, I be severely crushed.

But as I made these honest requests,
He gently gazed his look upon me,
And streams of smile flooded his face.
Now, I could feel hope restored to me.
